You’ve worked through the fundamentals, learned the tools, and built your first business model. Now you’re ready to refine it with expert guidance at Science Park Gotland.

This session isn’t about starting from scratch. It’s about taking what you’ve built and making it stronger, more specific, and ready to test with real customers.

What to Expect

Before the Workshop

You prepare your materials and questions. We review what you’ve submitted so we can focus our time together on the most valuable discussions rather than basic explanations.

During the Workshop

We spend 90-120 minutes working through your business model together. This isn’t a lecture where you sit and listen. It’s a working session where we challenge your assumptions, identify gaps, and help you design tests for your riskiest hypotheses.

We’ll push you to be more specific, more concrete, and more honest about what you actually know versus what you’re assuming. This can be uncomfortable. That’s the point.

After the Workshop

You leave with a refined business model and a clear testing plan. You know exactly what assumptions to validate first and how to design experiments that give you real answers.

What to Bring

Required Materials

Your completed Business Model Canvas - Either Value Proposition Canvas or full Business Model Canvas. Digital or printed doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’ve actually filled it out.

Your customer segment definition - The three-paragraph description using demographics, behavior, and psychographics.

Your list of assumptions - The 3-5 riskiest assumptions you identified that could break your business model if wrong.

Notes from customer conversations - You don’t need transcripts. Just key insights and direct quotes that shaped your thinking.

Preparing Your Questions

Good workshops focus on your specific challenges, not generic advice. Come with real questions.

Strong Questions

These lead to useful discussions:

  • “I think restaurants will pay 200 SEK/month, but I’m not sure. How can I test this without building the full product?”
  • “I have two potential customer segments. Which should I focus on first and why?”
  • “My biggest cost is X. Is there a way to validate the model before committing to this expense?”
  • “Customers say they want this, but I’m not convinced they’ll actually pay. What’s the difference?”

Weak Questions

These lead nowhere:

  • “Is my idea good?”
  • “What should I build?”
  • “How do I get customers?”
  • “Will this work?”

We can’t answer vague questions. We can help you answer specific ones.

What We’ll Work On Together

Reviewing Your Business Model

We look at what you’ve built and identify:

Strengths - Parts of your model that are well-thought-out and clearly connected to real customer insights.

Gaps - Missing pieces or unclear connections that need more work.

Risky assumptions - Things you’re treating as facts but haven’t actually validated.

Contradictions - Places where different parts of your model don’t align logically.

Refining Your Customer Segment

Most first attempts at segmentation are too broad or based on surface characteristics rather than actual behavior and needs. We help you get specific enough that you can actually find and talk to these people.

Strengthening Your Value Proposition

We test if your solution actually addresses the pains you identified. We look for:

  • Pain relievers that don’t connect to real pains
  • Solutions to problems customers don’t actually care about
  • Missing relievers for their most intense pains
  • Gaps between what you’re building and what they need

Prioritizing What to Test

You can’t test everything at once. We help you identify:

  • Which assumptions are riskiest
  • Which tests give you the most learning for least effort
  • What order to run tests in
  • What signals tell you an assumption is validated or disproven

Designing Your First Tests

We create specific experiments you can run in the next 2-4 weeks:

  • Who exactly to talk to
  • What questions to ask
  • What evidence counts as validation
  • How to know if you should pivot or proceed

Booking Your Session

How to Book

Book Session ↗︎

Mention that you’ve completed the Business Model Fundamentals section in the Founder’s Kit.

What to Include When Booking

  • Your name and startup name
  • Brief description of what you’re building (2-3 sentences)
  • Which materials you’ve completed (Customer Segmentation, VPC, BMC, etc.)
  • Your top 2-3 questions or challenges
  • Preferred dates/times for the session
  • Willingness to hear that parts of your model need rework

Setting Expectations

What This Session Is

  • A working session to refine and strengthen your business model
  • Focused on identifying your riskiest assumptions and how to test them
  • Practical guidance on next steps you can execute immediately
  • Honest feedback on gaps and weaknesses in your thinking

What This Session Is Not

  • Validation that your idea is guaranteed to work
  • A pitch practice where we tell you what you want to hear
  • Strategic consulting that solves all your problems
  • A replacement for actually testing with real customers

We can help you ask better questions and design better tests. We can’t tell you if your specific idea will succeed. Only customers can answer that.

After the Workshop

Immediate Next Steps

Within 24 hours of the session:

Document changes - Update your canvas based on discussions. Don’t trust memory. Write everything down while fresh.

Prioritize tests - Create a simple list of which assumptions to test first and how.

Set deadlines - When will you run each test? Put dates on everything or it won’t happen.

Book followup - If needed, schedule a followup session after you’ve run your first tests.

Testing Phase

The real work begins after the workshop. You designed tests. Now run them. Talk to customers. Test assumptions. Gather evidence.

Most of what you believe about your business model is probably wrong. That’s normal. The goal is to discover what’s wrong quickly and cheaply, then fix it.
